The benefits of an Electric Shower

Electric showers are fairly new bathroom appliances designed to heat water as you require it, avoiding a reliance on traditional showers pressurized by the water tank. With a traditional shower when you start the appliance the water is pulled from your water tank. Instantly, cold water replaces the hot water you are removing, resulting in a reduced temperature.

If you are the unlucky person to be second or third in line for a shower, you may find the water is cold and you are left waiting for the system to reheat.

Nowadays combi-boilers operate in the same way but continue to heat water as you use it, removing the problem of traditional shower systems. However, this is costly and adds additional reliance on one system that is designed to heat the radiators in your home.

This is where electric showers come in. Electric showers are separate appliances powered from the mains and heat water as soon as you switch the shower on. Electric showers save you money as you are heating as you use.

Electric showers have been known to output a low pressure meaning you have a shower that trickles water instead of blasting it out. However, as designs evolve, electric power showers have ensured this is no longer the case.

The cost of an electric shower can vary from £100 ($150) to £300 ($300) depending on the brand, size and design. Popular brands include Mira and Triton to name a few.
